"Bad Medicine"

You try to feed your baby pills
     but they will never cure her ills
     (and that's not all she will not swallow
     surely fireworks soon will follow)
You try them with a glass of water
     but that won't work, not on your daughter
     Instead of washing to her tummy
     the pill just floats up and gets gummy
And buttered toast won't get it down
     she just nibbles all around
     and leaves the pill there in the butter
     so you have to get another.
A spoon of suger in a mound
     still won't get the damn pill down
     in her mouth the sugar melts
     until the tablet can be felt.
